Growing up in suburban Detroit in a strong and traditional Catholic home, Mary Ellen's early years formed the firm foundation upon which she built the rest of her life. Nowhere was there more hope than in the home of Jack and Elizabeth (McClusky) Hiltz as they welcomed their second child, Mary Ellen, into their family on May 24. It was a time of robust change and much hope for the future. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Ellen was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.ฤก954 was the year the nation learned to "Rock Around The Clock" and that "Father Knows Best." Young people across America embraced the new sounds that came with the recording of Elvis Presley's first album as well as M&M's Chocolate Candies' "melt in your mouth and not in your hand," sweet delights. Embodying the principles of her faith, Mary Ellen was quick to serve others, ensuring their well-being, providing encouragement, and cheering on their successes. She was genuinely interested in people and enveloped them with sincere compassion and empathy. I attend Professional Conferences and workshops each year that are part of my continuing education in the field of Child Care and Development. With unwavering morals and an inspiring work ethic, Mary Ellen Murphy lived a life rich in faith and family. I am an active member of several Professional Organizations including the Mid Michigan Child Care Food Program and the West Metro Childcare Provider's Assoc. I also have training in Shaken Baby Syndrome, Safe Sleep Practices, and Blood Born Pathogens. I have been a Licensed Day Care Provider for 36 years, I am certified in Infant and Child CPR and First Aid. Now for the boring statistics: I offer safe, affordable, quality care for your little one. I'm looking forward to teaching and caring for your little one. Thank you for considering Miss Puddle Duck's Day Care. You can go to work feeling confident that you have left your little one here where lots of fun, learning, laughter, and attention are provided in a safe and loving atmosphere. Your little one is given a healthy, balanced diet while in my care which meets the Mid Michigan Child Care Food Program requirements. Letters, numbers, shapes, colors and themes are introduced during Circle Time and reinforced throughout the day through play. Because children are most comfortable with a set routine, there is a regular time each day for meals and nap, circle time, music, reading, imaginative play, and outdoor play. I encourage little ones to explore materials and their environment with all their senses. It is my philosophy that learning for very young children should be a hands-on, active experience that is safe and inviting. Come visit my daycare to see just how much play and learning goes on. The children will play hard, eat heartily and sleep well. I stay close by to insure their safety but don't interfere with their creative process. They think of possibilities and try them out. Children learn by doing lots of hands-on activities indoors and out. NO worksheets, flashcards, or memorization here. In the process, they have fun learning about math, science, literature, social interaction, different cultures and so much more. The children learn through play they try things out, fail, keep trying and succeed. There are swings, climbers, riding toys, and a big sandbox. I have comfy, kid-friendly furnishings and a big backyard w/ trees and a lush lawn. Take a look at my pictures to get a feel for what I do here. I run Miss Puddle Duck's Day Care which is a Family Day Care in my home.
